The little things

Here's a short list of little things that remind us we're in a new place.

We drink, cook, and brush our teeth with water from a dispenser.

The electric plugs are shaped differently and you have to turn them on with a switch before they will work.
Bathrooms each have a water heater that you must turn on with a switch 10 minutes or so before you take a shower if you want hot water. (Notice the switch at the bottom right of this photo)
At the grocery store milk comes on the shelf, not the cooler, in these little boxes. We bought a little bottle to pour it in to once we open the box. And Tide comes in tiny little packets. There is no Costco here.

Our toilets flush by pulling a knob on the top of the tank. And most toilets come with a hose next to them in case you'd prefer to clean yourself with water rather than toilet paper. This is a handy place to fill a cleaning bucket.
And most of the rooms in our house have an air conditioner. We start and end each day by turning on/off the air conditioners and fans in each room to suit our needs given that day's conditions.
More to come...
